  A400M Floor structure

Mid of 2007 Mr. Macciomei was engaged from the A400M PFW Program manager. The task was to provide consultancy to the Cargo Holding System / Aerial Delivery System (its most important supplier) on project management aspects. In a very short time he analyzed the situation and proposed solutions to improve performance. As a result a joint development phase in Bremen was started bringing together Customer, system supplier and structure supplier. This phase (called Plateau Phase) was led by Mr. Macciomei and enabled the project team to successfully pass the Preliminary Design Review and the Critical Design Review.

Shortly after the start of the Plateau Phase, Mr. Macciomei was appointed Program Manager for the complete Floor Structure. He was then managing the production challenges of the project including procurement and manufacturing.

During this experience he was managing a team of over 80 (engineering, production and management), coordinating the technical and managerial activities between the customer and the project partners. The overall Program value was over 350 M Euro.

 787 Engineering Work packages

Mr. Macciomei led the development of structural components for the 787 Horizontal Stabilizer and Entry Door Surround. At that time the biggest “in house” work package that GCT GmbH ever had. The project required a unique set of qualities ranging from the technical and project management knowledge to intercultural skills.

Because of the achievements that he was collecting and because of his intercultural skills he was awarded also the management of a Tubes and Ducts development for Alenia.

As the program manager for the structure engineering work package Mr. Macciomei was leading a multinational team of over 30 design and stress engineers. The cumulated value of the program was over 10 M. USD. As the project manager for the tubes and ducts work package he was leading a team of over 15 design engineers and quality and manufacturing engineers. The cumulated value of the project was over 4 M. USD.

 Dornier 228 MuPAL

The Japanese National Aerospace Laboratory modified a Dornier 228-200 for research purposes. The Direct Lift Control System (DLC) is part of the Multi-Purpose Aviation Laboratory (MuPAL). The company aee GmbH developed the Direct Lift Control (DLC) Computer first and second generation. The DLC System is a subsystem of an in-flight simulator which is ranked as Flight Critical.

Mr. Macciomei performed consultancy for the company in establishing the appropriate processes for V&V as well as for project management. Through a strong cooperation it was possible for aee GmbH to successfully complete the project in time, in budget and in quality. The customer was satisfied and additional business was generated. The knowledge and the processes implemented on that project were successfully used by aee GmbH in other projects.
